Chilly conditions to continue


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Strong winds are expected in the northern parts of Qatar today even as chilly conditions are likely to continue in the country, especially at night, the Met department has said.
The weather office has also issued a warning for strong winds and high seas in offshore areas today.
Northwesterly winds will blow at 8-18 knots in inshore areas today, going up to 23 knots in the north. In offshore areas, the wind speed will be 17-26 knots (northwesterly), reaching a high of 30 knots at times.
The detailed report for inshore areas also says moderate temperature is expected during the day with slight to blowing dust towards the north along with some clouds, with visibility dropping to 3km or less in these areas. Also, it will be cold by night.
Slightly dusty conditions are also likely in offshore areas at times, while the sea level may rise to 13ft towards the north.
In a tweet yesterday evening, the Met department said cold weather was being experienced in the country with the temperature ranging between 13C and 18C.
Further, it said the minimum temperature was expected to drop below 10C in the southern areas.
A minimum temperature of 13C is expected today in Mesaieed and Wakrah today, followed by 14C in Abu Samra and Al Khor, 16C in Doha and Dukhan, and 17C in Ruwais.
