MEC recalls KIA Optima 2016 model


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has announced a recall of Kia Optima, model year 2016, due to a noise in the right front axle drive shaft.
The recall is being carried out in collaboration with Al-Attiya Motors and Trading Co, dealer of Kia vehicles in Qatar.
The ministry has said the recall campaign comes within the framework of its ongoing efforts to protect consumers and ensure that car dealers follow up on vehicle defects and repairs.
The MEC will co-ordinate with the dealer to follow up on maintenance and repair works.

Over 1,900 new
firms registered
with MEC

Some 1,903 new commercial companies were registered with the Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) last month. These included 1,235 main commercial registrations and 668 sub-registrations.
Meanwhile, 6,616 commercial licences were issued, modified or renewed in November, while the number of closed companies amounted to 292.
In November, the MEC received 42 applications for invention patents while 115 requests for patents were renewed. The number of applications for trademarks stood at 3,165 last month.

Over 166,000 children given MMR shot


The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has announced that 166,145 children between the age of one and 13, were administered the Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccination at the national campaign from October 17 to November 30.
The campaign activities took place at government and private schools. Vaccination was also given in primary healthcare centres, Qatar Petroleum clinics, RasGas Al Khor Medical Centre and Sidra Medical and Research Center. Private health facilities also participated in the campaign.
A total of 70,142 children were vaccinated in 125 private schools and 40,176 children were vaccinated in 214 government schools. About 55,827 were vaccinated in participating health facilities, while 42,449 were vaccinated in government primary healthcare centres and 13,378 received shots in private healthcare facilities.
MoPH said that the campaign was successful and was met with widespread acceptance from citizens and residents. It also stated that there were no serious reactions to the vaccine among the vaccinated children.
