While it only discussed Nintendo's console history, it was a bit gratifying that I was able to use words like "party", "rumble" and "brawl" to describe how video game machines have tried their best to outplay each other.
So once again, we have a new set of gaming consoles that are set to try and run roughshod over each other, courtesy of... the usual suspects: Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo.
And now, the gladiators, er, the newest video gaming consoles ready to duke it out, starting off with the PlayStation 4 Pro...
...the Xbox "Project Scorpio"...
...and the oddly-cute Nintendo Switch.
And now, a look at their specs - confirmed, speculated and rumoured, as indicated.
For the PS4 Pro, these are confirmed via its webpage:

And as for the Nintendo Switch, no official specs have also been given, but a report from SegmentNext shows that, apparently, a Twitter user by the name of Nintendo Knob leaked the goodies:
So apparently, Sony and Microsoft want to take their duel to all levels, especially after launching the toned-down and more power-efficient versions of their flagships, the PS4 Slim and the Xbox One S.
Based from the specs we see from the PS4 Pro and Project Scorpio, it looks like the latter has the edge on paper - assuming that what has been swirling around is true.
For comparison, the PS4 Pro is obviously faster than the PS4, having, among others, a higher CPU clock and more processing power. But basically, it was designed to allow choice games to be playable at 4K. Also, the PS4 Pro is the only PS4 model that can allow gamers to enjoy Remote Play at full HD.
On the other hand, Microsoft has claimed that Project Scorpio will be the "most powerful console ever" with a memory bandwith three times more than its predecessor. It's also aimed to support 4K and virtual reality. Other specs remain shrouded in mystery, but last we've heard, the processor will be powered by an AMD APU with a whopping 320GBs.
That "most powerful" guarantee will put a lot of hype into it, and may hand Project Scorpio a - if we may call it - "advantage out of curiosity".
Here's the little problem: while the PS4 Pro is scheduled to be released towards the end of the year, Project Scorpio will soon follow... in late 2017.
Well, that's over a year from now. So the real grind will start when Project Scorpio is actually out. (Maybe Microsoft can use that huge time gap to study the competition; ahh, conspiracy theories...)
Oh, and the Switch? Well, while it's obvious that it won't stand a chance against the Pro and Project Scorpio pound-for-pound, we've included it in this grudge match because, hey, it's always good to have more options, right? A portable, go-anywhere one at that.
But to be fair, lesser specs doesn't mean lesser overall performance and less enjoyment. The Switch is so unique that it is sure to stir up curiosity. And don't forget that the Wii consoles - as well as the rest in Nintendo's rich line - have had their share of successes. Matter of factly, the specs on the Switch are sturdy as well.
So, this is more about choice. Let the games begin (soon).
