Jordan- UNHCR commissioner, Social Development minister discuss services to refugees


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Oct. 23 (Petra)--UNHCR High Commissioner Filippo Grand discussed with Social Development Minister Wajih Azaizeh, the social impact of Syrian refugees on Jordan, and means to enhance the ministry's role in addressing it through new programs in areas related to social protection.

The UN official praised Jordan's efforts to host more than 1.5 million Syrian refugees, pointing to the close cooperation between the UNHCR and the ministry in the social protection domain.

Azaizeh reviewed services provided to Syrian refugees in the Kingdom as well as importance of linking host communities of Syrian refugees with projects that preserve their social fabric.
