(MENAFNEditorial) Last Minute Preparations are under way at Run Jordan for the Samsung Amman Marathon that will kick off on Friday October 28th 2016 under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Firas Bin Raad, with the slogan (Run to the Heart of Amman).
Run Jordan Also announced that the Marathon Village will open its doors starting Sunday October 23rd till October 27th at King Al Hussein Park opposite to the fifth square (Football Field), to receive late registration and for all participants to collect their Race Result Bib numbers and the Marathon bag and T-shirt. The Marathon village will be open daily from 12:00 noon till 9:00 pm to allow participants to pass by upon their own convenience.
Lina Kurd, Run Jordan General Manager, commented: “We are working hand in hand with the our strategic Partner Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) to make sure that all the necessary arrangements have been made. This year being the eighth edition of the Samsung Amman Marathon, we have gathered the past years’ experience to organize an excellent event that provides a shining example on promoting positive lifestyles and a healthy Jordanian society. Moreover, we appreciate the efforts of all our volunteers and GAM workers who are a major part of our success”.
Kurd added: “We would like to thank our main sponsor Samsung Levant for their continuous support, which was evident this year as well through our thrilling online competition on our social media platforms (Face book and twitter) that ran for a month prior to the event and gave a chance to many to win valuable prizes from Samsung”.
Run Jordan has also established a strong partnership with official bodies such as the Civil Defense Department, the Public Security Directorate and the Army force, in addition to the Central Traffic Department to make sure that all roads and routes of the marathon are well guarded and that traffic is organized in a way that will facilitate the Marathon route.
The Samsung Amman Marathon is iconic on the Jordanian running calendar and fast gaining an international reputation. This premier road race is made up of three events: Marathon (42Km), Half Marathon (21Km), and the 10Km Fun Run. Registered participants will embark on the 42Km journey at 6:00am starting from the front of the main building of the GAM, heading towards King Talal Street and passing by al-Husseini Mosque towards Hashimi Street; while the Half Marathon runners will start their 21Km run at 7:30am from Al-Jayesh Street, under Raghadan Bridge heading towards Hashemite Square; individuals participating in the 10km Fun Run will start the race at Princess Alia Street, Al-Hussein Youth City Gate #1 towards Al-Madinah circle. All Races end at 1:00pm with the last whistle to announce the end of the allowed running period.
Aquafina being the official water partner will have water stations distributed throughout the length of the marathon route, in addition to different fruit and juice stations as well.
