Kids discover the scientific genius within them at Sharjah fest

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The world of science was brought to life on Monday as the first edition of the Kids Got Talent festival opened in Sharjah. Running until Friday, the festival features a wide range of entertaining workshops and exhibitions designed to boost scientific knowledge and creativity among children.

Highlights include laser cutting, 3D printing, an introduction to hologram technology, as well as dramatic live experiments.

Hundreds of children discovered the scientific genius within them on the first day, which featured experiments with light and shapes, an introduction to engineering, and workshops on carpentry.

Manal Ataya, director-general of the Sharjah Museums Department, said the festival aims to develop a culture of scientific understanding among young people in the UAE.

"Our main aim is to make science fun - to show children how science is all around us and affects our lives on a daily basis," said Ataya.

"The festival creates a special chance to discover children's talents and abilities. It aims to support and enhance their skills and encourage creativity, developing their sense of innovation, scientific research and knowledge, spreading scientific culture, and creating a generation that is able to build the future by making use of technology and creative work."

The festival is seeing participation from Sharjah Police, Dubai Police, Ajman Police, Ministry of Education, Fab Lab UAE Emirates Scientific Club, Aufuq Alebda Learning Centre, Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services and Sharjah Youth.
