27 airstrikes target IS in Syria, Iraq


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, Sept 25 (KUNA) -- The US-led coalition against the so-called Islamic State (IS) launched 27 airstrikes in Syria and Iraq Saturday, the Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) announced Sunday.

In Syria, 13 airstrikes near Abu Kamal, Dayr Az-Zawr, Manbij, and Mar'a destroyed seven oil tanker trucks, seven oil well heads, six fighting positions, two weapons caches, a mortar system, a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) and a heavy machine gun, CJTF-OIR said in its daily report.

In Iraq, 14 airstrikes near Al-Huwayjah, Kisik, Mosul, Ramadi, and Sultan Abdallah destroyed two IS watercrafts, five vehicles, two tunnels, two anti-air artillery systems, a heavy machine gun, three IS headquarters buildings, a weapons cache, and a mortar system, the report said. (end) ys.ma
