Jordan- Council of Churches tackles challenges facing Mideast Christians

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Sept. 7 (Petra) -- Head of the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia, Catholicos Aram I, said despite challenges facing Middle East Christians, they remain determined to stay because they belong there and share their Muslim brothers these difficulties.

He made his remarks during the second session of the 11th General Assembly of the Middle East Council of Churches which was opened here Tuesday under the theme "Give thanks to the lord for he is good, his mercy endures forever".

Churches should have priorities to implement as for Christians who are not a marginal community in the region but an integral part of societies they live in, He said.

He also urged churches in the Middle East to strengthen ties with immigrants to emphasize the connection between them and the roots which they have in the region.

He added that "our message to Muslim brothers is that we will continue the coexistence and respect each others."
