(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) PARIS, Sept 5 (KUNA) -- France condemned Monday North Korea's firing of three ballistic missiles earlier, calling the action a "clear" challenge to the international community.
"This new unacceptable provocation violates the UNSC resolution 2270," Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault said while meeting with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano.
"It poses a threat to regional peace and security and a challenge to the non-proliferation regime, and permanently threatens aircraft and ships operating in the region," Ayrault added.
He reiterated his country's call for the complete, verifiable, and irreversible dismantling of North Korea's nuclear and ballistic programs, calling Pyongyang to honor its international commitments.
Meanwhile, the two sides discussed the Iranian nuclear program, reviewed IAEA's latest work updates, and Iran's commitment to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). (end) mmb.ma
