DOHA: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education said yesterday that it has removed 12 schools from the educational voucher system for failure to obtain the national academic accreditation.

The voucher system allows Qatari students to seek education in private schools through government support.

The Ministry clarified that it has not cancelled the education voucher system, but has only removed the said schools due to their failure to meet the required standards, Al Sharq reports.

Those schools were given enough time to rectify their situation and the deadline ended last May.

The decision will be in force from the new academic year 2016-2017, which means that students who have registered before the new academic year will continue to benefit.
