Coalition launch 19 strikes on IS in Iraq, Syria on Fri.


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, Sept 4 (KUNA) -- The US-led coalition launched a total 19 airstrikes on so-called Islamic State (IS) targets across Iraq and Syria on Friday.

Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve officials on Sunday reported eight strikes in Iraq and 11 in Syria by attack, fighter, and remotely piloted aircraft.

In Iraq strikes targetted areas near Hit, Mosul, Ramadi, Sultan Abdallah and Tal Afar.

They destroyed six buildings, four vehicles, three tactical units, a financial storage center, an assembly area and a command and control node.

They also struck a rocket system, five rocket rails, two fighting positions, a bulldozer, a weapons cache and two mortar caches.

Meanwhile, the strike near Tal Afar, produced "inconclusive results," said the coalition.

In Syria, strikes targetted areas near Raqqah, Deir Al-Zour, Manbij and Mara.

They destroyed three IS cranes, a tanker truck, eight tactical units and two vehicles.

They also targetted two two fighting positions, a logistical hub, a vehicle bomb and an anti-air artillery system. (end) sd.bs
