CAIRO, 3rd September 2016 (WAM) --- The Al Maktoum Foundation has distributed meat to the most disadvantaged families in the Egyptian governorates of Suez, Ismailia, Al Sharqia, Asyut and Beni Suef, to help them cope with soaring prices, completing the first phase of a charity campaign.
The campaign was directed by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, who sponsors the foundation, and is being followed up by Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan bin Rashid, Chairman of the Board of the foundation.
Representative of the Al Maktoum Foundation in Cairo, Salah Al Jafarawi, oversaw the distribution of the aid and Director of the office of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid's office and member of the board of trustees of the foundation, Merza Al Sayegh, said the effort is part of strong relations between the UAE and Egypt.
The Al Maktoum Foundation sponsors a number of small enterprises in the poorest towns of Upper Egypt to help families achieve self-sufficiency.
In this year's fasting month of Ramadan, the Emirati foundation donated more than 20,000 food packages to families in Upper Egypt and equipped knitting classes after it signed an agreement with the Egyptian Ministry of Local Development.
