Egypt- Islam Khalil discharged 10 days after release date set by court

(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Activist Islam Khalil was released from prison Wednesday night, after being detained 10 days longer than the date set for his release by court, his brother Nour Khalil said.

Islam, 27, was arrested on 24 May 2015 at around 3am from his home, on charges of belonging to an outlawed group and inciting violence that targeted state stability and security.

The East Alexandria Court dropped the charges against him on 21 August, yet he remained in detention until Wednesday night.

According to his brother, Islam's health condition had deteriorated during the detention period, and the family was not able to communicate with him, except through the lawyer.
