Qatar denounces Netanyahu's statement on settlement in Occupied West Bank

DOHA, 1st September, 2016 (WAM) -- The State of Qatar has expressed its condemnation of a statement issued by the office of Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, on the settlement decision in occupied East Jerusalem.

Qatar News Agency, QNA, quoted a statement from the Qatari Foreign Ministry as saying that Netanyahu's office statement which refused the report of Nikolay Mladenov, UN Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process on the developments of the situation in the Occupied Palestine, proving the fact that Israeli policies reject peace and weaken opportunities for the two-state solution.

In its statement, the Foreign Ministry reiterated Qatar's firm stance and policy in supporting the Palestinian cause and its people, saying that their authentic legitimate rights must be protected.

The statement also called on the international community to shoulder all its legal, humanitarian and moral responsibilities to take a firm stance to compel Israel to comply with peace requirements, at a time of intensified international efforts to resume the peace process and save the two-state solution.
