Algeria grain imports drop by 6pct in Jan-July


(MENAFN) Algeria grain imports reached 7.33mn tons in the Jan-July period of this year, a drop of 5.9 percent from the same period of 2015.

Furthermore, the country tried to reduce imports in a bid to offset a sharp decline in energy earnings.

On the other hand, barley imports increased to 528.721 tons from 422.962 in the same period of 2015.

However, the whole value of grain imports fell down to 28.5 percent or USD1.5bn due to lower prices.
