Oman LNG's employee represents University of Newcastle at BIOPRO

Ahmed al Hatrooshi who is an Oman LNG employee on an academic sabbatical at the University of Newcastle has been nominated to represent the University of Newcastle in the 'BIOPRO' – a biotechnology manufacturing forum for the 20 best universities in the world.

BIOPRO World Talent Campus is an advanced one-week course at the PhD level, where students will learn and be challenged with cutting-edge knowledge within biotechnology manufacturing. This prestigious event has seen the participation of 25 PhD or Master's students working in the field of biotechnology manufacturing, from the 20 selected universities around the world.

This is not Hatrooshi's first achievement as he won first prize for his first-year poster 'Marine Waste Bio-refinery' at the 2015 Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials Annual Postgraduate Research Conference.

Hatrooshi said, 'It is indeed an immense pleasure to be nominated to represent Newcastle University at BIOPRO after winning an internal competition between PhD students at the university; the accomplishment made me really proud as an Omani representing my country in this world talent campus.'

He added, 'It also reveals the capability of Oman LNG employees and their dedication in the study. My participation in this campus will create a networking platform with talented PhD students from the top 20 universities in the world. This participation shall widen the horizon of future research and industrial collaborations. Finally, my sincere thanks and gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said for his vision in providing the foundation for skill development opportunities. I would also like to thank Oman LNG for their valuable contribution in facilitating my study and their usual co-operation.'
