Philadelphia, August 30, 2016 Yellowdig, the leading Social Learning SaaS platform for Higher Education, today announced the appointment of Shantanu Sharma Ph.D., as VP Engineering with leadership responsibilities for Yellowdigs technology infrastructure, software development and new data science initiatives.
Shantanu joins Yellowdig from Goldman Sachs where he was a Vice President in Goldman Sachs Technology Division, leading product development of scalable and regulation compliant software applications.
Dr. Sharma will report to Shaunak Roy, Yellowdigs Chief Executive Officer.

"Shantanu has a very impressive background and strong track record, with deep expertise in technology development, cloud computing and data science which are important topics for our customers. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Shantanu was a Lead Scientist at GE Global Research where he developed scalable data mining algorithms to discover actionable insights and trends in large scale datasets. He was an early employee at Mismi, a venture funded tech start-up, a Technology Vice President at Citigroup and a Quantitative Strategist at Tower Research Capital.
Dr. Sharma holds a PhD with Computational Biophysics emphasis from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Computer Science & Engineering bachelor degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He has taught courses to graduate and undergraduate level students and published over a dozen research articles having hundreds of citations in peer-reviewed journals and won multiple awards for his work.
