Most stocks decline on Muscat bourse

Oman's benchmark stock index closed down 0.51 per cent, at 5,779.60, on Monday.

Market volume and turnover were recorded at 13.5mn and RO3.1mn, respectively. Of the 40 stocks traded, four posted gains, while 25 declined and 11 remained unchanged. A total of 595 trades were registered during the day.

All the sub-indices closed in the red. The Financial index slipped 0.59 per cent, and the Services gauge fell 0.36 percent. The Industrial index gave up 0.45 per cent. The MSM Shariah index closed 0.28 per cent lower at 891.17.

Top gainers on the bourse included Al Batinah Development & Investment Holding (+2.25%), National Aluminium Products (+0.95%) and Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles (+0.93%) while the laggards were led by Gulf Investment Services (-3.28%), Oman Fisheries(-3.23%) and Global Financial Investment (-2.94%).
