The third event of Wiyakum Volunteer Programme for Nama Group employees began in Muscat.

Nama Group's volunteers participated in two activities in Muscat, with the first activity conducted in cooperation with Handicapped Association in Azaiba. The activity included an introduction to volunteering, followed by various activities, carried out by Nama volunteers, such as administrative works for the association, painting, and planting as part of the association's preparation for receiving handicapped children in the upcoming period.

In addition, a workshop was presented about energy conservation.

The second activity was carried out in partnership with Eithar Voluntary Team in the wilayat of Seeb, in which employees were trained in the culture of voluntary works and projects.

Subsequently, employees were divided into groups to implement a number of projects such as preparing school bags for children in need, maintaining electrical systems of a number of mosques in Ma'abela, and conducting field studies of families in need.

The signing of the agreement between Nama Group and Oman Network of Volunteers (Taawon) came as result of the programme's success in its first edition, last year, where more than 540 Nama Group employees completed training in the field of voluntary work. The employees were given Wiyakum Card to further encourage employees to continue participating in voluntary work. Moreover, many voluntary programmes were implemented with the cooperation of several organisations in Muscat.

This year the project aims to include Nama Group employees across the sultanate. An average of two voluntary events are planned to take place in each governorate, in addition to a workshop on voluntary works and field activities in cooperation with different voluntary organisations and NGOs.

Nama Group continues to support sustainable projects since the launch of its sustainability policy in September 2014. The group's sustainability policy is based on three pillars, namely Social, Environmental, and Economic. The group supports different initiatives that are aligned with these pillars, which aim to nurture society, support the economy, and preserve the environment.

Nama Group is a group of joint stock companies registered in Oman. The group consists of eleven companies operating in the electricity generation, procurement transmission, supply and distribution.

The companies were established as a result of restructuring the electricity sector and its water related services in 2004. Commercial operations for the subsidiary companies started in May 1, 2005.
