Invest in Oman forum on September 27, 28

The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) will organise 'Invest in Oman Forum' at the Grand Millennium Hotel on September 27 and 28.

It will be held in collaboration with the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture for Arab Countries under the auspices of Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq al Said, advisor to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

The forum aims at highlighting investment opportunities in the sultanate. The speakers will focus on the investment-friendly environment in the sultanate, which includes political stability, strategic location, developed infrastructure, economic and free zones, easy procedures for doing business, access to capital, qualified human resources and liberal economic system.

The two-day forum will cover a number of important themes, including investment climate in the sultanate, promising investment opportunities and the prioritised sectors for investment.

On first day, two sessions will be held. The first will be presented by the Supreme Council for Planning on the 'Major Economic Features of the Sultanate during the Coming Period'. The second will be presented by the International Monetary Fund on 'Possible Alternatives for Diversification in the Sultanate and the Role of Foreign Investors'.

The Saudi Chambers Union will also present a working paper on 'The Economic Conditions in GCC States' followed by a working paper by Muscat Securities Market on the 'Role of MSM in Economic Diversification in the Sultanate'. The second session will be held under the title, 'Economic and Free Zones and the Available Investment Opportunities'. Working papers on the available investment opportunities for local and foreign investors will be presented by the Special Economic Zone in Duqm (SEZD), Sohar Free Zone and Salalah port.

The second day will include sessions on investment opportunities in food security, in the field of service sectors and in industry and mining.
