Qatar- Sheep at subsidised rate from September 4
(MENAFN- The Peninsula) DOHA: The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has said it will start selling subsidised sheep from September 4 as part of the Eid Al Adha initiative. The sale will continue till the third day of Eid Al Adha, possibly September 13.
The Ministry said it has agreed with Widam Food Company to sell the sheep to nationals at a price of QR1,100 per sheep at special outlets in the central market in Doha and at the slaughterhouses of the company in Al Khor, Al Shamal and Al Mazroua.
The sheep are imported from Jordan and beneficiaries must be Qatari citizens not less than 18 years. They must show their original ID at the sale point and not more than one sheep will be sold to a customer, the Ministry said in a press release yesterday.
The Ministry indicated that its contract with Widam requires the company not to sell skinny or physically weak sheep or sheep not fitting Adha conditions in accordance with Shariah.
