Oman's food imports fell 3% in 2015

The value of Oman's food imports stood at RO1.13bn in 2015 compared with RO1.17bn a year earlier, posting a 3.06 per cent decline, according to date released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The value of exports and re-exports of food commodities stood at RO441.1mn during 2015 against RO426.7mn during 2014, constituting a rise by 3.37 per cent.

The value of the sultanate's import of livestock during 2015 stood at RO69.9mn compared with RO74.4mn during 2014. The value of exports and re-exports of the same hit RO41.8mn in 2015 compared with RO48.9mn during 2014.

The sultanate's import of meat and associated products stood at RO137.5mn last year against RO134.1mn in 2014. The value of exports and re-exports of the same increased to RO28.2mn from RO15.2mn.

Oman's import of eggs and dairy products stood at RO242.2mn in 2015 compared with RO266.2mn a year earlier. The value of exports and re-exports in the category stood at RO114.4mn in 2015 against RO116.7mn during 2014.

The value of fish and associated products imports stood at RO26mn in 2015. The value of exports and re-exports of the same hit RO53.2mn in 2015.
