Football: Limerick holds Oman in friendly

Limerick FC and Oman played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Markets Field in Limerick, Ireland on Friday night.

Limerick went in front after just three minutes, but Oman equalised a few minutes later when Saud al Farsi converted a penalty kick.

Oman took a 2-1 lead in the 13th minute when Omar al Fazari was afforded too much space down the left. He cut in before unleashing a thunderbolt into the top corner - out of the reach of Limerick keeper Freddy Hall. Limerick drew level within ten minutes of the restart.

A neat one-two between John O'Flynn and Chris Mulhall saw the former latch onto a looping return ball, before finishing calmly into the bottom corner.

Ahead of the match Oman captain Abdulaziz al Miqbali and Limerick club officials exchanged mementoes.

Oman will look forward to its trip to the Aviva Stadium when it plays Ireland on August 31, a game that will be the swansong of Irish football legend Robbie Keane.
