Oman continued its impressive performance at the GCC Youth Cup football tournament, currently underway in Doha, Qatar, as it recorded its second successive victory on Friday.

Oman beat hosts Qatar 1-0 to total six points in the five-team event. Kuwait is not participating in the tournament.

The scorer for Oman in the win against Qatar was Aiman Ibrahim, who struck in the 68th minute. Oman had begun its campaign with a 3-1 win over Bahrain on Wednesday.

It next plays against Saudi Arabia on Monday before rounding up the campaign with a match against UAE on Wednesday. Hamad al Azzani, the team's coach, expressed his satisfaction over the boys' display so far, but said 'tougher tests await against the Saudis and the Emiratis'.

'The players have shown high spirits and great enthusiasm. Some rest on Saturday and Sunday will help them recover for the games ahead. We hope to take each match as it comes,' said Azzani.

The biannual tournament is played on a round-robin format. The team with the maximum number of points will be declared winner.
