Dubai Customs seeks 6% growth in transactions inQ2


(MENAFN) Dubai Customs' investments in state-of-the-art technology is bearing fruit as it recorded a notable increase in the number of transactions during the first half of this year, helping its customers to process transactions in a few minutes.

According to a Press statement issued on Saturday, Dubai Custom's Department of Planning and Development, also known as Trakhees, recorded a 6.3 per cent growth in the number of transactions processed in H1 2016 to 55,086 in comparison with 51,726 in H1 2015.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, chairman and CEO of DP World and chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, said Trakhees recorded a 10 per cent growth in gross income during H1 2016.

"Trakhees' streamlined procedures which cut down the time needed to process a transaction to only a few minutes are a major drive behind the increase in the number of transactions. A new bundle of smart services was recently introduced to the public, making Trakhees' smart services touch 272," bin Sulayem said.

During the first half, 18,574 transactions were processed by Trakhees' civil engineering department alone, which caters to construction approval requirements of clients and consultants of projects within the jurisdiction of the development authority.

The figure reflects an increase of 3,626 transactions over the 14,948 transactions it processed in H1 2015. On the other hand, Trakhees's environment, health and safety department processed 29,721 transactions in H1 2016, a growth of 1,303 transactions in the same period last year.
