Kerry in Jeddah to discuss region's challenges


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) JEDDAH, Aug 24 (KUNA) -- US Secretary of State John Kerry arrived on Wednesday in Saudi Arabia to hold talks with Saudi officials and GCC counterparts on challenges facing the region.

The talks will deal with the need to end the conflict in Yemen and means of delivering humanitarian aid to the country, Kerry posted on his Twitter account.

Yesterday the US State Department said that Kerry is to discuss with GCC counterparts on Thursday the challenges facing the region, including the Syrian dossier, and efforts to combat the so-called Islamic State and the violent extremism. Upon arrival, Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir received Kerry at King Abdulaziz International Airport, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported. (end) nh.hm
