US condemns attack on AUAF in Kabul

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) (With SEC-AFGHANISTAN-UNIVERSITY-ATTACK) WASHINGTON, Aug 24 (KUNA) -- The US condemned in the strongest terms an attack against the American University of Afghanistan (AUAF) in Kabul on Wednesday.
The US embassy and counterparts of the Resolute Support Mission are monitoring the situation as advisers but are not taking a combat role, State Department Press Director Elizabeth Trudeau told reporters.
"We are in the process of accounting for all chief of mission personnel and working to locate and assist any U.S. citizens affected by these attacks," said Trudeau.
The US embassy in Kabul issued a security warning to US citizens and have told them to avoid the area until further notice. (end) ak.gb
