Egypt, Jordan call on world to help in combating terrorism


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Aug 24 (KUNA) -- Egypt and Jordan on Wednesday jointly called on the international community to cooperate with Arab and Muslim nations in the war against terrorism and extremism.

Presidential spokesman Alaa Yousef, in a statement following a meeting between Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi and Jordanian King Abdullah II, said the two leaders agreed on coordination at various political and security levels.

Palestinian cause was a main topic of the talks between the president and the visiting monarch, he said, adding that they stressed on necessity of breaking stalemate in the peace process for resolving the Palestinian question.

President Al-Sisi and King Abdullah praised Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' call to tackle rifts in the Palestinians' ranks.

On Syria, they underscored necessity of resolving the crisis to end the human suffering and maintaing the nations' unity. They also expressed an identical stance on Libya and Iraq. (end) rg.rk
