The unique system has been launched in three Enoc gas stations, two of them on Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and the third one in Al Warqa area opposite Ghoroob Mirdif.

The new initiative was announced during a Press conference held by Brig. Saeed Hamad bin Sulaiman, Director of Rashidya Police Station.

According to Brig Saeed, the initiative was implemented last year at the Rashidiya Police Station as part of Hamdan bin Mohammed Award for Smart Government, which aims at enhancing services.

The Alaa Darbak facility aims at helping drivers who are not familiar with smart technologies to facilitate the issuing of minor traffic accidents reports and ensure smooth traffic in cooperation with private sector.

Brig Saeed said that the Alaa Darbak is like a fast food service provided at a gas station and is complimentary to the Dubai Police's smart applications.

How it helps motorists It helps drivers, who do not carry smart phones, to report minor accidents took place at areas under Rashidiya Police Station jurisdiction.

When minor accidents occur, both the parties can go to Enoc gas station on Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, hand over car registration and driving licence to the customer services section, which will capture the damages on a smart phone and issue the accident report in three minutes. They will send it to the insurance companies of both drivers who were involved in the accident.

He added that those gas stations were selected because they were so close to residential areas which witness large number of minor traffic accidents, especially during peak hours. Brig Saeed also revealed that the number of minor traffic accidents reported since the launch of Alaa Darbak has reached 1,818.

Most of the accidents happened on Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road during peak hours. However, 80 per cent of the accidents did not cause traffic jam on the roads.
