Qatari bakery reopens in Syria

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The renovated bakery is serving over 44,000 displaced and poor Syrian people daily.
Doha: Qatar Charity (QC) has relocated and opened the Qatari Bakery in Idlib in Saraqib in Syria after it was destroyed, to provide the displaced people with bread. More than 44,000 benefit daily.
Mohammed Rashid Al Ka";bi, Director, Relief Management, Operation Executive Management, QC, said, 'The bakery was bombarded and stopped offering services. As a result, bread production was insufficient and the displaced people and inhabitants did not receive enough bread.
'There were also many poor and orphans"; families which could not afford bread. QC found a new location where the bakery is safe and can serve the people living there.”
In coordination with IHH, QC equipped the location to set up the bakery. It is back into production, at a cost of QR90,000.
The bakery is secured, the oven has been repaired, the clothing and the cooling line have been replaced. The compressor will be changed and electricity and water networks replaced, along with the water tanks, which were destroyed.
Al Ka";bi said the bakery produces 64,000 loaves daily, which is distributed to the displaced and the needy in Saraqib, Abu Duhoor and other areas. 'QC implemented the project to help the Syrian people and alleviate their suffering. The project offers basic food, especially as flour prices are very high and many displaced Syrians remain without food.” A team supervises the bakery and staff include a director, two supervisors and workers. They were selected based on experience and capacity to implement the project, especially in difficult weather and dangerous humanitarian circumstances. Al Ka";bi thanked the philanthropists in Qatar for support.
