Envoy briefs US meeting on Qatar's preparations for 2022

Doha: Alaska";s Governor Bill Walker met Qatari Ambassador to the US, Mohammed Jaham Al Kuwari, during his visit to the US state.

Talks dealt with means of enhancing relations between the US and Qatar, especially on economic and cultural levels.

Al Kuwari, who was invited by Anchorage City Mayor Ethan Berkowitz, took part along with members of the Anchorage Chamber and the Alaska World Affairs Council in a panel discussion on ‘Internal politics of Qatar; Large projects implemented in education, economy and sports";.

It also included the topic ‘Qatar";s preparations to host 2022 FIFA World Cup, foreign policy, initiatives undertaken to resolve regional conflicts and reach political solutions; efforts to release hostages and regional crises, particularly in Syria, Iraq and Yemen";.

Al Kuwari also visited Rasmuson Foundation, which promotes a better life for Alaskans and focuses on arts,culture, health and social services.

The Qatari Embassy has donated a grant to the foundation to develop a special programme to establish a domestic violence shelter for women and children.
