UAE chairs Arab League committee meeting

CAIRO, 22nd August 2016 (WAM) --- The UAE is chairing a meeting of the Arab League's Permanent Committee for Legal Affairs, which began today in Cairo.

Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for International Organisations, Yaqoub Al Hosani, who is also head of the committee, is chairing the four-day meeting.

Other UAE delegates at the meeting are First Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and head of the department of complaints and grievances, Abdullah Al Jasmi, as well as Abdullah Saleh Al Hammadi of the UAE representative office at the Arab League and the UAE Embassy in Cairo.

During the four-day meeting, the committee will discuss a draft Arab charter for archiving, a proposal for preserving and promoting Arab urban heritage, as well as a memorandum for establishing a pan-Arab common market for electricity and a bill on amending the basic system of the Arab court of investment.

The committee will submit recommendations to the council of Arab foreign ministers which will meet in September.
