Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, completes a decade of its enactment


(MENAFN- KNN India) To mark the completion of a decade of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is organizing an event here today.

The event comprises of two panel discussions on ‘Food Safety in the unorganized sector: Challenges and opportunities";and ‘Food Safety: A shared responsibility"; between 1830 to 2000 hours.

Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 has today completing a decade of its enactment.

'This integrated food safety law has been an important milestone in the history of the food safety in India. This has brought about a paradigm shift in food and nutrition from limited focus on curbing adulteration to much wider canvas of safe and nutritious food,” FSSAI said.

Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Jagat Prakash Nadda will be the Chief Guest at the programme.

In this programme, ten new initiatives of the Food Authority would be unveiled and a ‘Coffee Table Book"; on Food Safety in India would be released. (KNN Bureau)
