Kuwait- Summer cultural festival concludes with concerts


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Aug 20 (KUNA) -- The 11th summer cultural festival, organized by the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL), came to a close late Saturday.
The event concluded by showcasing South Korea's Orchestra (hope and joy) performed at Abdulhussain Abdulredha Theater in Salmiya.
The festival reflected NCCAL's keenness on helping the local audience get acquainted with cultures of other countries, NCCAL's Assistant Secretary General Bader told reporters on the sidelines of the event.
The orchestra troupe renowned for solos, presented varied recitals, theatrical performances and operettas including a Kuwaiti folklore's one, he said. He noted that the festival is a "mini panorama" which included a variety of activities and events like concerts, theatrical and cinematic performances, workshops and symposia.
He stressed that the council would continue organizing many events in the upcoming period that are part of the celebrations of "Kuwait Capital of Islamic Culture 2016." He said the council will also organize the festival of "theatrical nights" next September, Kuwait international book fair slated for November and the festival of Kuwait's local theater in December.
Minister of Information, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Chairman of NCCAL Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Sabah inaugurated the 11th festival on August 8.
It included more than 27 cultural, artistic and literary activities, training courses and workshops, in addition to a galaxy of academics, writers and specialists.
The event contained also several exhibitions, concerts and theatrical performances. (end) shh.fsh.hm
