Egypt- 2 soldiers reportedly killed in attack on checkpoint in Rafah


(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Two soldiers arereported to have been killed Thursday in North Sinai, thoughofficials have not yet confirmed the news.

An armed attack on a checkpoint in the city of Rafah reportedly killed two police conscripts, and injured a third. According to local media reports, the two conscripts were 21-years-old, from the governorate of Beni Suef, while the third is 23 and comes from Beheira.

The alleged attack targeted El-Masoracheckpoint in southern Rafah. The Sinai-based militant group, known as Sinai Province, formerly launched attacks on the same checkpoint. Last week, Sinai-based journalist Ahmed Abu Deraa reported to the local Al-Masry Al-Youm website that a soldier was injured in a shooting.

In April, two soldiers were reportedly injured and three militants killed during the attack on El-Masora checkpoint.
