Qatar Charity provides 5,000 food baskets in besieged Aleppo

Doha: Qatar Charity (QC) continues to provide support and help to the people of Aleppo suffering due to severe humanitarian circumstances.

It provided Syrian families with 12,300 baby milk cans for some 6,150 babies at a cost of QR284,830.

The campaign aimed at helping mothers secure milk for their babies as Aleppo is suffering from a suffocating siege and food and medical supplies are not allowed in. Baby milk prices have also risen due to a shortage.

As part of its ‘Relieve Aleppo"; campaign, QC has distributed about 5,000 food baskets to as many families, along with flour and water through tanks customised for QC in the city. It is also coordinating with its field team to start new shelter, health and food projects.

During Ramadan, QC distributed 11,000 food parcels in Aleppo and its countryside and to Syrian refugees in Jordan and Lebanon.

People can also donate food baskets at a cost of QR150 each by sending ES in an SMS to 92652. The campaign has opened hotline 44667711 for donations and answering queries. QC has been paying extra attention to the Syrian projects. Since April 2011 until this May, more than 8,000,000 Syrians in and outside Syria, including refugees or displaced, have benefited from the projects implemented at a cost of around QR450m. The fields included food, bakeries, shelter, blankets, fridges, fans, cleaning tools, Eid clothing and others.
