UNRWA offers subsidy payments to 924 refugee families in Gaza

GAZA, 17th August, 2016 (WAM) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) was able to disburse over US$4.4 million for second quarter transitional shelter cash assistance ($201,300), reconstruction ($ 3.78 million) and severe repair works ($ 473,668).

The funds reached a total of 924 families across Gaza who were able to access their assistance, an UNRWA press release said.

Emergency shelter – including support for home repairs, reconstruction and interim shelter solutions – is a top priority for UNRWA. The agency remains committed to supporting affected families yet requires new funding to continue the shelter cash assistance programme.
