IFRC praises UAE support

GENEVA, 17th August 2016 (WAM) Elhadj As Sy, Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) has praised the support given by the UAE to the federation by hosting its international logistics unit in Dubai.

During a meeting with the GCC ambassadors in Geneva, Elhadj As Sy applauded the role played by the Emirates Red Crescent Authority (ERC) in quickly responding and providing assistance to all countries affected by natural calamities. He cited the ERC's recent action to assist Sudan, after flash floods hit the country.

Obaid Salem Al Zaabi, UAE's Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, said UAE's swift response to disasters emanates from the leadership's support and the values embedded in the Emirati society.
