Kuwait- Turkish, US FMs discuss latest developments in N. Syria
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ANKARA, Aug 16 (KUNA) -- Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu discussed on Tuesday with his US counterpart John Kerry the latest developments in Manbij town, in Aleppo governorate, Syria, after being liberated from the so-called Islamic State (IS).
The two sides, in a telephone call, also focused on the issue of returning Fethullah Gulen, the leader of the so-called "parallel structure," from the US to Turkey, Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
It added that the Turkish government accused Gulen of supporting the failed coup attempt that took place last month.
They discussed the visit of Vice US President Joe Biden to Turkey slated for late August, the statement noted.
Cavusoglu called on the US on Monday to withdraw the Syrian Kurdish forces from the east of Euphrates after they and other US-backed forces seized control of Manbij from the IS last week. (end) rs.hm
