Kuwait- Bangladeshi arrested for running illegal abortion clinic baby abandoned in cafe

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 13: A Bangladeshi expatriate was arrested for running an illegal abortion clinic from his apartment in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area, reports Al-Shahed daily. When Rabya securitymen received information about the Bangladeshi expatriate's illegal activity, they carried out intensive investigations to confirm the information and discovered that he was charging KD 250 for each abortion operation. They raided his apartment and arrested him in possession of illicit medicines. He was referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.

Woman dies in house fire: A Kuwaiti woman in her 20s died from smoke inhalation after a fire engulfed her family house in Riqqa area, reports Al-Shahed daily. Firefighters from Mangaf Fire Station rushed to the location and managed to extinguish the fire in a record time. The victim, after she was rescued, was rushed to Adan Hospital but she was pronounced dead on arrival. Reportedly, the cause of the fire was electrical short circuit.

Woman abandons baby: A Kuwaiti woman abandoned a baby in a cafe and disappeared, reports Al-Rai daily. According to security sources, a security campaign in cafes against violators of law was being carried out by securitymen when they heard the cries of a baby in one of the cafes. They were informed that one of the visitors had left the baby behind and ran away. Securitymen referred the baby to Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital and investigations were launched to figure out if the woman is the mother of the baby or if she had been using the baby for begging. It was eventually discovered that the woman who ran away is a Kuwaiti. Securitymen are looking for her.

Actor, air steward in brawl: A popular Kuwaiti actor and an air steward were detained in the investigation office of Kuwait International Airport following an argument that erupted between them aboard a plane, reports Al-Shahed daily. Reportedly, the argument erupted after the actor accused the air steward of delaying in serving him fresh orange juice. The problem was eventually solved amicably.

Ten vehicles, 30 buggies seized: An intensive campaign against reckless youngsters was launched at Khairan chalet area during which ten vehicles and 30 buggies were impounded and 84 traffic citations were issued, reports Al-Rai daily. The campaign was launched after the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received several complaints from visitors to the chalets about reckless motorists who endanger lives of others and cause nuisance.

Number of drug users rise: The number of drug users in Kuwait is increasing despite the tremendous efforts being exerted by the security authorities of the country to curb this negative phenomenon, reports Al-Shahed daily. According to statistics, students of universities and even schools have fallen prey to drug use. About 80 percent of the perpetrators of criminal offenses such as armed robbery and murder are drug addicts.
