Burjeel Hospital, Oman's first ever seven-star tertiary healthcare facility, recently held a day-long blood donation camp at the hospital, supporting the Ministry of Health's (MoH) efforts of ensuring a sufficient stock of blood at the sultanate's blood banks.

All the employees enthusiastically participated in the blood donation event, which was organised under Burjeel's corporate social responsibility
programme and in association with the Ministry of Health's Department of Blood Services.

Inaugurating the donation drive, Christopher Evans, CEO, Burjeel Hospital Oman, said, 'Burjeel is all about care and support. As a premier medical facility, we offer a range of most-modern healthcare services. But Burjeel's vision is much broader and considers community support as a key aspect of its corporate philosophy. I welcome all members of the Burjeel family who have willingly come forward to take part in this noble drive.'

Dr Rohil Raghvan, medical director at Burjeel, who coordinated the event, said, 'Burjeel's blood donation campaign would help enhance public awareness about the significance of blood donation and its role in saving precious lives. Burjeel plans to conduct a lot of community
support programmes including blood donation campaigns on a regular basis.'

The Ministry of Health has been undertaking serious efforts to increase the current rate of blood donation, which stands at 50 units a day to at least 100 units, considering the severe shortage of blood in the sultanate's blood banks.

Blood bank officials appreciated Burjeel's gesture.
