DOHA: Work on three hospitals dedicated to expatriate single workers is expected to be completed by the end of this year and the beginning of 2017.

The hospitals in the Industrial Area, Mesaieed Industrial City and Ras Laffan will provide workers high-quality healthcare closer to their communities.

The Private Engineering Office (PEO) — the government agency that oversees high-profile development projects in the country — said it will hand over the hospitals to the Ministry of Public Health by next year.

'The new hospitals will be delivered to the ministry in the last quarter of 2016 and the beginning of next year.

'Then the ministry will begin to equip and prepare to open the hospitals and receive patients according to a scheduled plan,” Qatar News Agency said, quoting a PEO a statement.

'This project (three hospitals) will have a significant impact and make a qualitative leap in health services in Qatar.

'It it would contribute to easing the burden on the existing hospitals and provide better services to citizens and residents towards achieving Qatar National Vision (QNV) 2030,” it said.

The new hospitals will have a total of 360 beds with the possibility of increasing their capacity in future.

Each hospital will have 120 beds, outpatient clinics, ambulance services, operation theatres, radiology department, laboratories and other necessary services.

Each hospital will also be attached with an independent health centre in addition to a unit of the Medical Commission. The hospitals will also have green spaces and parking facilities.

The dedicated facilities for expatriate single workers will be part of the expansion plan being undertaken by Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) to open seven new public hospitals and increase the number of hospital beds across the country by more than 1,100 by end of next year.

New beds will be created in specialties where there is high demand for services and will enable more patients to access care at these new, state-of-the-art hospitals.
