Arab Federation for Human Rights holds third general assembly

MANAMA, 10th August 2016 (WAM) --- President of the Arab Federation for Human Rights has stressed that the pan-Arab non-governmental organisation seeks to consolidate efforts to promote human rights in the Arab region and is today an important authority in this field.

In opening remarks at the federation's third general assembly, Dr. Ahmed bin Thani Al Hameli said the organisation is leading the Arab human rights movement in coordination with national, regional and international organisations.

"The federation's top priority is to improve the human rights of Arab citizens. Though events it organised over the past months, it sought to bolster pan-Arab solidarity about human rights," he said.

He Arab Federation for Human Rights is an umbrella for more than 80 Arab and international civil society and rights organisations, institutions and centres.

During its assembly today, the federation approved the setting up of three regional satellite offices in Bahrain, Egypt and Morocco to cover the Gulf Cooperation Council states, the Middle East and North Africa, respectively.

It also approved its regulations, strategy, a list of projects for 2016-2017 and its own bye-laws for media and communications.
