Global Biomass Briquette Market

(MENAFNEditorial) Biomass briquette is generally made of green waste and other organic materials. These are commonly used to generate electricity, heat, and cooking fuel. They are used to warmth industrial boilers in order to create electricity from steam. The most common use of briquettes is in the developing world, where energy sources are not as widely available. These compressed or solid compounds contain various organic materials, including rice husk, bagasse, ground nut shells, municipal solid waste, agricultural waste, or anything that contains high nitrogen content.
Biomass briquette is a biofuel replacement to coal and charcoal. It is also a block of flammable matter used as fuel to start and maintain a fire. They are used to heat industrial boilers in order to produce electricity from steam.
Biomass Briquetting is the process of converting low bulk density biomass into high density and energy concentrated fuel briquettes. Biomass Briquetting plants are of various sizes which converts biomass into solid fuels. Briquettes are ready substitute of Coal/wood in industrial boiler and brick kiln for thermal application. Biomass briquettes are Non conventional Source of energy, Renewable in nature, Eco friendly, non polluting and economical. Process of converting biomass to solid fuel is also non-polluting.
Every year millions of tons of agricultural waste are generated. These are either non-used or burnt inefficiently in their loose form causing air pollution. Handling and transportation of these materials is difficult due to their low bulk density. These wastes can provide a renewable source of energy by converting into high-density fuel briquettes without addition of any binder.
Biomass Briquettes have high specific density (1200 Kg/m3) and bulk density (800 Kg/m3) compared to 60 to 180 Kg/m3 of loose biomass. These can stand the ardors of long distance transport. Loading/unloading and transportation costs are much less and storage requirement is drastically reduced. Compared to fire wood or loose biomass, briquettes give much higher boiler efficiency because of low moisture and higher density.
Depending on the different method of processing of biomass briquetting, biomass briquette can be broadly divided into three categories, including Black Liquor after pulping of biomass, such as pulp waste as a molding adhesive additive; Biomass hydrolysis products, such as hydrolysis lignin, cellulose, hemicellulose and hydrocarbons and other as the molding binder additive; Biomass powder and coal directly mix, using heat or high pressure compaction molding.
According to the relevant authorities forecast, the global biomass briquette market will grow at a CAGR of about 6.2% in the next few years. In terms of region, the demand in Asia-Pacific will be the largest, and Asia-Pacific is the fastest growing market of biomass briquette, is expected to expand at 8.7% within expectations.
The major manufacturers in the biomass briquette market include Enviva, Pacific BioEnergy, German Pellets, RWE Innogy, Drax Biomass, General Biofuels, Pfeifer Group, Biomass Secure Power, Energex, Westervelt and so on.
