UAE- Gargash receives UN Special Representative for Iraq

ABU DHABI, 9th August 2016 (WAM) Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, received on Tuesday in Abu Dhabi, Jan Kubis, Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Iraq and Head of the UN's Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).

The meeting discussed developments in Iraq.

Dr. Gargash praised the efforts made by the UN Special Representatives for Iraq and reiterated UAE's keenness to support all efforts aimed at countering forces of terror and extremism in Iraq.

He said that the successful approach to defeat Daesh is based on an inclusive political framework for all components of Iraqi people that runs parallel to the military and security effort.

He also stressed the need to reinforce the role of Iraqi institutions at this critical stage, saying the UAE will support "all endeavours that contribute to enhancing security and stability in the brotherly Iraq."
