(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) AMMAN, Aug 9 (KUNA) -- An Egyptian-Jordanian ministerial committee agreed in Amman on Tuesday on measures to enhance trade exchange and economic ties, and boost cooperation in fields of transport, health and labor.
Today's meeting, coming ahead of the Egyptian-Jordanian Higher Committee due in Cairo late this month, has produced "practical" solutions to several fields of cooperation, and urgent remedy for some problems of trade exchange, Jordanian Minister of Industry and Trade Jawad Ahmed Anani said in a press statement.
He added that the two sides agreed to set joint rules for cooperation in medications, in addition to a 50-percet cut of fees for vessels carrying grain to Jordan through the Suez Canal.
During the meeting, the Jordanian side promised to grant Egyptian laborers, who have violated regulations, a grace period of two months, instead of 10 days, to adjust their status, besides exempting those leaving before the end of the year from fines of up to JD500 (USD 704.6).
Meanwhile, the Jordanian News Agency (Petra) said that during a meeting with the Egyptian delegation, Prime Minister Hani al-Mulqi pointed to the immense challenges facing the Arab World, a matter that urges concerted efforts "to turn them into opportunities and wider scopes of cooperation at the bilateral and regional levels." Imports from Egypt hit USD 500 million in 2015, while exports reached USD 100 million, according to a statement from the Jordan Chamber of Commerce. (end) ab.msa
