(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Aug. 9 (Petra)-- The Main wanted suspect in the killing of Gendarmerie officer Nart Nafesh, who was killed in 2014 while carrying out his duty, was killed early Tuesday in a pre-dawn raid carried out by security agents in Maan .
Four Gendarmerie personnel were injured during the raid as well as two of the wanted men, according to security sources .
The qualitative raid, the sources explained, has been carried out by the Gendarmerie forces in cooperation with other security personnel following thorough investigations and searches for people wanted in cases of murder, attempted murder, drug trafficking, illegal arms trade and resisting security men.
During the raid, the suspects opened heavy fire using machine guns and hand grenades against the security personnel, it added.
The four injured Gendarmerie personnel were transferred to King Hussein Medical Center and were reported in medium condition, the sources said.
Second Lieutenant Nafesh, 23, was part of a patrol that was guarding a post in Maan, some 220km south of Amman, when a group of suspects opened fire with automatic weapons at 4:45am on August 3, 2014 , killing the officer.
