Kuwait- Coalition launch 16 strikes on IS in Iraq, Syria on Sat.


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, Aug 7 (KUNA) -- The US-led coalition on Saturday conducted 16 airstrikes against the so-called Islamic State's positions across Syria and Iraq, the Pentagon said.

Bomber, fighter and remotely piloted aircraft struck eight times in Syria and eight in Iraq, read a Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve statement on Sunday.

In Syria, strikes near Deir Al-Zour and Manbij destroyed an oil tanker, seven tactical units, six fighting positions and an improvised explosive device.

Meanwhile in Iraq, strikes targeted areas near Albu Hayat, Fallujah, Mosul, Qayyarah and Ramadi.

They struck two tactical units, three vehicles (one of which was tactical), two vehicle staging areas and two fighting positions.

The strikes also suppressed a heavy machine gun position and destroyed a vehicle bomb facility, a headquarters and a training camp. (end) sd.rk
