(MENAFNEditorial) Ernie Rivera, one of two Tampa Bay area businessmen challenging Marco Rubio in the GOP primary for U.S. Senate, today released his first campaign ad that will begin airing in South Florida and online next week.
The ad makes noise about Sen. Rubio's silence on one of the biggest issues in South Florida, particularly Lake Okeechobee: runoff from sugar fields that has caused massive toxic algae blooms currently destroying the environment and property values.
In the ad, Rivera is sitting beside a couple as they ask Sen. Rubio to answer for his silence and Washington's inaction.
''I know that ‘BIG SUGAR'' is a large campaign supporter for you, but why is this not being dealt with?'' asks Charles Wilson in the spot.
The GOP primary will be held later this month. Mr. Rivera, who has spent $500,000 of his own money to defeat Sen. Rubio, is currently crisscrossing the state to deliver an upset victory later this month.
