Asiana Airlines operating income turns to negative in Q2


(MENAFN) Major South Korean flag carrier, Asiana Airlines Inc, said its second quarter operating profit turned to black, with its net loss also narrowing sharply from a year earlier.

In the April-June period, the airliner posted a net loss of 26.7 billion won, down 67.77 percent from a net loss of 85.4 billion won over the same period last year.

Moreover, operating profit came to 28.8 billion won in the second quarter, compared with a loss of 67.1 billion a year earlier.

"The company's profitability improved, while demand in China, Japan and Southeast Asian countries for flights to South Korea also jumped from a year earlier," it said in a press release.
